Contemporary Hillside Estate

Started from almost scratch, simplistic concrete paving replaced stone walkways and patios. The valley views from the living room were enhanced by a foreground water-feature focal point with a sunken conversation seating area and fire pit designed to enjoy the city lights on chilly evenings. The once black bottom infinity pool was replastered in white resulting in a traditional mid-century aqua blue finish. A stone finished, glassed backed, outdoor fireplace replaced a nondescript fire pit on the pool terrace. A new lower level lawn area was added to the rear garden, accessed via a cantilevered concrete staircase with water cascade spilling down one side.

Plant materials were selected for their formal geometric shapes. The planting color palette consists of varying shades of green with white and lavender accents. The night garden lighting has been softened so as not to distract from the dramatic city lights.
